Grandma's Santa Cloth

I love 50's printed tablecloths. I just got this one from my gramdma's things. I remember she used it for the side table that held the turkey(or ham), lefse, and sometimes lutefisk. I can't believe how white it still is, and the creases remain from when she last ironed it, many years ago.
Some motifs from the border, the gold is a metallic gold.

Of course, I realized, living in a house with seven cats, I had to take it off the table when I wasn't around to keep them off. Don't want to add kitty paw prints to the design!

Yellow Kitchen

I finally decided what color to paint the kitchen.
The family let me paint it my yellow choice(I also was thinking of a very light yellow green towards the grey side, or a spicy paprika or cinnamon--each of those were too wild I guess). But I love the yellow, it makes the room feel warmer, and makes me feel cheerful. I'm kind of going for a Carl Larsson vibe--I really love his gentle paintings of homelife and interiors. Like these two.

Button Garland

And so begins the Christmas Parade!!!
Super easy, a kid can do it.. string buttons of choice on hemp twine. Thread through two holes, slide the button where you want it, and it will stay. Tie a loop in each end to hang on the tree. also made a strand with red buttons and wrapped a little wreath.
Nice way to use heirloom buttons with memories. I will say I probably saw this on Martha Stewart! Ha!

A Hoody For Me

One day a Blue Darner flew in the back door...I finally caught it and set it outside the next morning on the deck rail. I got a real good look as it warmed up enough to fly in the cold October morning sun. I had no idea a bug carried the exact colors that had been swirling about in my brain--Teal, turquoise, mahogany, burgundy, avacado, seafoam...
The colors I'd been knitting with...

This is what comes of leftover sample balls...
